Most 'satanists' are really just protesters of religion. Much like the Pastafarians, but with a little more bite because of their name.
Besides, in the bible satan isn't really all that bad of a dude. Jehovah is the real terror in the bible.
seriously, i watched it on cnn last night.
it sounded like a wind up first of all.. .

I thought that Russell originally taught that Armageddon started in 1799, and Jeezus was big man in heaven since 1874?
1914, being the end of the gentile times was to be the very end of human rule on earth, to be replaced by heavenly rule as it had been since 1874 with Jesus on the throne.
So, not an Armageddon countdown card, but still significant.
i used to be able to put in a date and a reminder 2hours in advance.
i updated my sw and now cannot set reminders.
so now i need a paper diary.. .
If you can't find it, ask Siri. She can set your appointments for you if you can't figure it out
making up my mind on how to teach my son values in life seems to be an on going struggle of what is right and wrong.
being raised in a sheltered jw life until after leaving high school seems like going from one extreme to another of being over restrictive or under.
trying to find that balance.
Religious morals are inferior to modern societal morals. Relying on religion to teach kids morality is lazy parenting.

Prologos,
Are you seriously putting forward the claim that many experts publicly claim to be atheists "just to be on good terms with their perceived peers?" Seriously? How about they claim to be atheists because they ARE?
What an ignorant statement.
cross posting from another thread.
it seems that i might not be the only nerd here that's interested in statistics like this so maybe it deserves it's own topic.. so i was playing around with google.com/trends with some jw related search terms.
i found the results a bit surprising, and certainly interesting, so i figured i'd share.. first off, the link to what i tried.. one of the most surprising things that stood out was the regional interest.
Hmm... Good refutation to use when a JW talks about the big J "speeding up the work" in "the time of the end"
my question is since it looks as though mammoths were alive after the flood and we know elephants are then how much food was needed to feed just these four animals for the time they were on the ark.
also was the ark, 500 feet long, big enough to hold the amount of food needed for just these 4 animals.. .
.
Wait a minute... Mammoths after the flood? Flood didn't happen yeah but... Mammoths only 4500 years ago?
Citation needed please, sir
what specifically made you stop believing in god and the bible?
was it a steady road of doubts or it was reading one book or one major event that made you realize the bible was not what it's claimed to be?.
.
It was the same logic that brought me out of belief in the WT.
If one is intellectually honest with oneself, it is the only logical outcome.
as i mentioned in a recent thread, i've relatively new here.
have been lurking for a few weeks and just started posting.. one of the things i'm finding interesting about this site is how often someone posts a set of jw published material that contradicts each other.
for example the other day someone posted about lecithin.
Yes I believe it's called, "what does the bible really teach?"
seriously though, this is a big undertaking. Perhaps it would be a good project for someone to do? We could get the whole forum involved, all contributing Our favourite contradictions. We'll publish it and call it,"what does the Watchtower really teach?"
